Hello everyone!
It is a Round 1 of another local tournament that took place in Warsaw, in April. I faced Maciej and his Legion army.
I wanted to try something new, so I took Haley3 in SD and Stryker3 in GD. I played both warcasters in the past, but I have never tried them out in those particular theme forces. Normally it would be the other way around, but why not to experiment with theme forces? Maciej decided to take Mekanolyth, I took Haley3. In this case neither of those two picks would be good in my opinion. I had a chance with Haley3 though.
Maciej’s Lylyth4 list:
Legion
[Theme] Children of the Dragon
[Lylyth 4] Mekanolyth [+28]
– Azrael [17]
– Mekanoshredder [4]
– Nephilim Bolt Thrower [9]
Blight Archon [9]
– Zuriel [16]
Craelix, Fang of Everblight [0(5)]
Hermit of Henge Hold [5]
The Forsaken [4]
Virtue Champion [6]
Virtue Champion [6]
Blighted Nyss Raptors (max) [15]
Yssylla [0(5)]
Virtue Host [8]
Virtue Host [8]
Ouu I like the list a lot! I haven’t played Lilo4 yet, I am planning to and this list might be the first one to go ๐ i hope you don’t mind, Maciej ๐
My Haley3 list:
Cygnar
[Theme] Storm Division
[Haley 3] Major Prime Victoria Haley [+27]
– Centurion [16]
– Thorn [11]
– Squire [0(4)]
Lieutenant Allison Jakes [0(4)]
– Reliant [13]
Lieutenant Gwen Keller [0(5)]
Morrowan Archon [8]
Savio Montero Acosta [6]
Stormblade Captain [4]
Alexia Ciannor & the Risen [8]
Storm Lances (max) [18]
Stormblade Infantry [9]
Stormblade Infantry [9]
My plan was to play around high DEF and heavy hitting infantry. As you may suspect, it is not the best list into Lilo4 with handful of Virtues, but it was what I had, so I had to deal with it and try to find a way to the victory.
We played Split Decision.
Deployment
Unfortunately, I lost the starting roll. Maciej decided to go first and I could pick a side and for some reason I picked the wrong one ๐ I would be able to hide Haley behind the forest and play it much safer.

Round 1 Turn 1
Legion started, everything ran forward, outside of my threat ranges. Virtues created a cloud wall. Lylyth cast Deflection and walked forward. Raptors started flanking maneuvers with an intention to push my left flank bank. Azrael took the left flank, Blarchon’s Zuriel took the right side.

Round 1 Turn 2
That was the moment when I realized that taking this side was a mistake. After measuring the threat ranges I had nowhere to hide. CK was already in the air hahah on the other hand, I had to push forward, but going too far would most likely result in me loosing most of my infantry. I cast defensive spells, Jakes cast Side Kick on Stormclad, Haley summoned both her iterations and cast Temporal Distortion.

Round 2 Turn 1
Maciej had nothing to be afraid of at this point, so he decided to profit from his advantageous position and play it safely, taking no risk and slowly increasing his attrition advantage. Virtues and Raptors basically decimated my storm knights. I lost my front lines, and my single wounded models were stuck behind the acid clouds. Azrael and Zuriel stayed behind, outside my threat ranges.

Round 2 Turn 2
I was pushed so deep into my half of the table that I anticipated to have issues with properly contesting enemy zones and flags. But first I had to focus on killing all the models that were right in my face! I started on the left flank, Storm Lances attacked Raptors and Virtues in the circular zone. Unfortunately, I failed to kill Virtue Champion. Centurion trampled to the zone and used his anti-charge ability. Thorne ran forward and Haleys started shooting and casting spells to kill as many enemy models as possible. Young Haley had some good deviations but sadly, I left another Virtue Champion on few boxes. Alexia created a Thrall that charged and killed another enemy model. Stormblades on the left just walked around the clouds and tried to shot Virtues. The other unit charged and failed to kill any Virtues. As you can see this was not going to the right direction, to say the least ๐ In all that mess with AoEs flying all around, avoiding them and failing to kill Virtues along the whole front I forgot about the most crucial thing ๐ contesting enemy flag and scoring my own… That enabled Maciej to score one point in his turn. I guess that subconsciously I wanted to end this misery as soon as possible ๐

Round 3 Turn 1
Maciej had to score only 4 points this turn to win, and in this scenario it is not difficult at all. Legion easily destroyed my objective. Then, Azrael slammed Centurion outside the circular zone. Virtues and Raptors took care of all the contesting models and that was it, Legion scored 4 points, 0:5 in Round 3, ouch!

Afterthoughts
I created a buymeacoffee profile, where you can support me and contribute to development of this blog by buying me a “coffee”. Funds gathered this way will be used on blog maintenance and making more 3D terrain ๐
If anyone would like to do so, you can follow the link below. You can also leave a private message there. Any kind of feedback is highly appreciated!
I would like to thankย Benoit, Samu, Krzysztof,ย Daniel RGย andย Endreย for supporting me on buymeacoffee. It really means a lot to me! Thank you!
Well, that wasn’t the best way to start the tournament, I must admit, but at least we had a good laugh ๐ Contesting that flag and scoring my own would only prolong the agony. Playing single wounded and high defensive infantry into Virtues is terrible, I do not recommend doing that haha it’s no fun, believe me.
Once again, Maciej, thanks for the game! I cannot wait to describe our next one in the future!
Cheers,
Piotr
PS It took me some time to write this battle report, not because the game was too long obviously hahah
