Kraye1 vs Borka2 – WarTable league – Round 1

Hello everyone!

It’s been a long time since the last report. I’m not playing as much as I used to before and it’s hard to find motivation, especially when there are no tournaments on the horizon (at least those real-life ones).

However, something really attracted my attention and made me want to play after such a long hiatus. It was Brawlmachine. A friend of mine decided to organize a 3round long Polish league with slight modifications. We chose a single list (with 15p sideboard) and played a single battle during each round. I decided to let the community decide which caster should I bring. Fortunately, it wasn’t Sturgis who won ahahah otherwise I would die of boredom 😀 Jeremiah Kraye won by a slight margin and I was more than happy to construct my first 25 point list. It wasn’t a simple task, as every point in such format matters and there is no space for wasted opportunities.

First of all, I had to select a Theme Force. After examining all the free options I chose Gravediggers for it’s useful Requisition Options, great benefit and a wide variety of models.

I decided to take Centurion and Ironclad as my battle groups. Centurion for his utility and extremely well combination of trample, imprint and reposition 5″. Ironclad was taken for his good price/quality ratio.

Later, I decided to take Express Team as a free option and added a Master Gunner for this additional shot (sadly, he wasn’t too useful after Express Team’s death).

Then, I decided to take Morrowan Archon for his both defensive and offensive capabilities. Also, I took Alexia1 for her scenario presence, so needed with otherwise low model count list.

I filled the last 2 points with a Patrol Dog. I was hoping that maybe somehow I will be able to pull out the -3 to hit trick, but it never happened.

As for my additional 15p side board I took Grenadier and Trencher Buster but never used them to be honest.

In the first round of the league I was to face Trollbloods. Michal picked Borka2, so here we go!

Michał’s Borka2 list:

[Theme] Storm of the North

[Borka 2] Borka, Vengeance of the Rimeshaws [+27]
– Earthborn Dire Troll [14]
– Rök [19]
Valka Curseborn, Chieftain of the North [0(6)]
Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribes (min) [6]
– Northkin Elder [3]
Northkin Bear Handlers & Battle Bears [10]

My Kraye1 list:

[Theme] Gravediggers

[Kraye 1] Captain Jeremiah Kraye [+28]
– Centurion [17]
– Ironclad [12]
Morrowan Archon [8]
Patrol Dog [2]
Trencher Master Gunner [4]
Alexia Ciannor & the Risen [10]
Trencher Express Team [0(5)]

We played Orbits.

I’m sorry for a bad quality screenshots, apparently they don’t go well with WarTable.

Michal won the roll and decided to go first. He deployed Borka in the middle with his beasts around him. The bears were kept in the Ambush.

I deployed Kraye in the middle, heavy warjacks on the left and Alexia together with other models on the right.

Round 1 Turn 1

Everything ran forward, the stone used the ARM aura.

Round 1 Turn 1

Round 1 Turn 2

Kraye moved up, cast Admonition on Centurion and moved up. Centurion used his imprint, trampled forward and repositioned even further up the table. Ironclad trampled and repositioned forward too. Express team moved to the right. Then I realized I forgot about the Ambush, that’s what can happen after half a year without playing 😛 Alexia created a Thrall Warrior who moved to the position from where he could charge the incoming threat. Morrowan Archon got close to the Express Team to protect them with the -2 to hit aura.

Round 1 Turn 2

Round 2 Turn 1

Borka moved up, used his feat and used Earthborn’s animus. Earthborn moved close to the building on the left and also used his animus. Rok just stepped forward into the circular zone. Battle bears charged in from the right edge of the table and manage to kill only one model, the gunner, sadly. The spotted made his tough check. Valka captured the flag and waited for another turn to score a point.

Round 2 Turn 1

Round 2 Turn 2

I managed to clear the right flank (well, almost) thanks to combined effort of Morrowan Archon and Thrall Warrior. I tried to kill the Handler, but he passed his tough check. On the left flank, the thing weren’t that good. Ironclad charged Earthborn, dealt some damage and became stationary. Centurion took position behind him. I scored one point on the flag, as did Michal, 1:1.

Round 2 Turn 2

Round 3 Turn 1

Earthborn easily removed Ironclad from the game. Rok charged in and killed the only 2 models that were contesting the circular zone, my mistake. The Handler was still there to secure a point there. Borka killed Patrol Dog and repositioned slightly. Michal scored 3 points! I scored none, 1:3 for Trollbloods favour.

Round 3 Turn 1

Round 3 Turn 2

Aaayyy the things weren’t looking good. I didn’t have enough raw power to kill any of the beasts. Centurion failed to finish Earthborn and on the other side my models didn’t deal too much damage to Rok. I managed to score one point on my flag and I couldn’t contest the opposite one. We both scored a point, 2:4.

Round 3 Turn 2

Round 4 Turn 1

Earthborn together with Borka killed Centurion. On the other side, Rok wasn’t able to follow his fellow Dire Troll, and the circular zone remained contested, uff. Fortunately Borka couldn’t both finish Centurion and kill the Thrall, so Michal scored only 2 points and I scored one on the flag, 3:6.

Round 4 Turn 2

In my turn, I managed to kill Rok with Kraye and Morrowan Archon. Thrall Warrior charged the Handler, but I didn’t have enough attacks to kill the contesting model. Alexia created a Thrall that ran to contest the enemy flag.. I contested the rectangular zone and scored only one point on my flag, 4:6.

Round 5 Turn 1

Michal cleared the rectangular zone and his flag. He also contested my flag, scored 2 points finishing the game, 4:8.

Round 5 Turn 1

Ayy, those Trolls were simply too tough to deal with them with my warjacks without any additional buffs. Jeremiah is all fun, but there was no way to increase the damage potential of my list (not in the one I had). Trading 1 warjack for 1 beast wasn’t a possibility. Additionally, Borka’s feat is perfectly suited to limit my list’s maneuverability what combined with some mistakes I made resulted in me losing the game.

Nonetheless, it was great to have another game of Warmachine! I was looking forward to play another one!

Thank’s Michał for a pleasent battle and I hope to see you soon 😉
