Scenario – Invasion

We both chose the “Pathfinder objective”.
Thanks to Anastasia, I won the starting roll and started the game.

Deployment :

Mercenaries :

Rask’s army is so fast in this theme force.
I was so happy about winning the starting roll.
I could just play my regular turn.
Ossrum cast Energizer and Fire for Effect on left artillery.
The whole army ran forward.
Artillery shot towards Alten, deviate on him, but left on 1 hp 🙁

Minions :

My army was pretty far.
Minions came a little bit forward and Kamil decided to use his FEAT defensively.
Rask and Gobbers put two clouds.

After 1st round :

Mercenaries :

Now, I had two options.
I can use my FEAT and trample to reach enemy models – which isn’t the most effective.
Or just stayed in the scenario and possibly outside of Minions threats.
Of course, I chose option number 2.
Whole my forces back a little bit and .. that’s all.
Under Rask FEAT I cannot do too much.

Minions :

2x Gatorman Husk came from Ambush and ran to engage my models.
Rask and Gobbers once again put two clouds.
Wrastler with Admonition and Battle Boar came to the middle zone.
Beasts decided to stay outside of my charge ranges.
Only Brine decided to “go in”.
He destroyed Blaster and Eliminator on the right flank.

After 2nd round :

Mercenaries :

Once again, there is no point to use FEAT.
I can stay in the zones and outside of Minions threat ranges.
I only killed Gobber in the left zone to score a point there.
Right Basher slammed Brine outside of Rorsh ctrl range.
That’s all.
Rest of my army stayed in the safety positions.

1-0 for me

Minions :

The third Husk came from Ambush and ran to the right zone.
Another two engaged my Artillery Corps.
Brine did not pass his Threshold test.
Once again, Kamil decided to stay outside of my ranges.
I think he was waiting until I use my FEAT.

After 3rd round :

Mercenaries :

I easily killed that contesting Gobber in my left zone.
I decided to pop up my FEAT, to clear the right zone.
Unfortunately, Brine survived on 2 boxes, still contesting the zone 🙁
Ossrum cast Snipe on Gorman – just in case.

2-0 for me

Minions :

Rask cast all possible buffs on Skarath, who charged and destroyed the objective.
Thanks to Overtake, he reached and almost destroy Driller.
On the right flank, Brine finished my Basher.
Rest of the Minions just came to contest the zones.

2-1 for me

After 4th round :

Mercenaries :

We were both running out of time.
I didn’t saw many options to score a point.
So, I decided to put as many models as possible to the zones.
I only managed to finish Brine and Skarath.

Minions :

Kamil started his turn with 1 minute on the clock.
All he needs to do is to score 1 scenario point.
To do this, his Battle Boar need to destroy freshly Blaster and Driller.
This Boar had free charge, mat 7 and pow 16 (five or six attacks).
Even with that, his chance to succeed was almost impossible.
As I predicted, Battle Boar failed to destroy my two Jacks and we ended the game.

Afterthoughts :

Winning the starting roll was so important.
I forced Rask to use his FEAT in 1st turn, which gave me a big advantage.

During the game, I felt like we are playing chess, instead of Warmachine.
There was a lot of positioning/measuring stuff.

Anyway, it was a good game.
Thanks, Kamil!
