Siege2 vs. Kreoss1

Hello everyone!

This time I played against Mateusz. The purpose of this game was to test Siege2 against double Judicators. I know that I can handle one, but what about two of them?

We chose the Kreoss1 variant which we consider to be the strongest one.

I was seriously hesitating if I should post this battle report, since many proxies were involved. After a while I thought that maybe someone will find a battle report versus double Judicators interesting or somehow helpful.

My slightly adjusted Siege2 list:

Cygnar Army – 75 / 75 points
[Theme] Gravediggers

[Brisbane 2] Colonel Markus “Siege” Brisbane [+28]
– Ironclad [12]
– Triumph [18]
Anastasia di Bray [3]
Captain Maxwell Finn [0(6)]
Commander Anson Hitch [4]
Patrol Dog [2]
Trench Buster [0(5)]
Trench Buster [0(5)]
Lady Aiyana & Master Holt [8]
– Captain Jonas Murdoch [4]
Trencher Commandos (min) [10]
– Trencher Commando Officer [4]
– Trencher Commando Scattergunner (1) [2]
Trencher Express Team [5]
Trencher Express Team [5]
Trencher Infantry (max) [16]
Trencher Blockhouse [10]

I swapped one unit of Trenchers for Commandos. I wanted my list to be more flexible and I believe that adding a unit that has stealth, can throw granades and has anatomical precision should help. Perhaps not against Judicators, but in general.

Mateusz’s Kreoss1 list:

Protectorate Army – 75 / 75 points
[Theme] The Creator’s Might

[Kreoss 1] High Exemplar Kreoss [+29]
– Crusader [10] (Mauler)
– Judicator [34]
Exemplar Warder [0(5)]
Exemplar Warder [0(5)]
Initiate Tristan Durant [0(4)] (Trencher Jr.)
– Judicator [34]
Scrutator Potentate Severius [0(6)]
– Redeemer [11] (Firefly)
– Redeemer [11] (Firefly)
Choir of Menoth (min) [4]

That’s a well known, at least in Poland, list. I am struggiling to find an answer to for months now 😛

We played Mirage.

Deployment

Mateusz was the first player, so I got to choose the side. Mateusz deployed his Judicators on both sides and the rest of the models between them. He tried to avoid being blocked by a long wall in front of his deployment.

I deployed the bunker on the hill, both ‘jacks on the left side, Siege with Busters in the middle, close to Blockhouse. I put advance deployed Express Teams on the flanks, Trenchers on the right and Commandos on the left.

Sadly, there is no photo of that phase.

Round 1

Protectorate ran forward relentlessly, not being afraid in Turn 1 at all. Mateusz put 2 upkeeps on both Judicators that added to heirt armor. Kreoss stayed behind the wall.

In my turn I tried to spread my models wide enough, so blasts and sprays won’t kill everything that easily. I put Hallowed Avenger on Ironclad. The most important models hugged Blockhouse in order not to be prone to blast damage.

Round 1

Round 2 Turn 1

Mateusz cleverly decided to use Choir and put no-magic on Judicators, what ment I won’t be able to cast Kiss on collossals. Both Judicators marched forward and killed plenty of models, including Express Team gunner. Right Collossal with a little help of Redeemer killed my bunker. Well, this time he didn’t put too many trenchers into play… There was also a Warder that I needed to deal with, if I wanted to charge right Judicator.

Round 2 Turn 1

Round 2 Turn 2

I managed to clear the path and charged the Judicator, previously using my feat and casting Fury on Trenchers. That deffinitely wasn’t enough and both collossals were fully functional. I moved Triumph into the cover in order not to lose him too early. With cover bonus he might survive long enough to deal couple of more damage on already hurt Judicator. So far, Triumph’s shots were harmless. I scored 1 point in my circular zone.

Round 2 Turn 2

Round 3 Turn 1

After my previous turn we already knew which way this game was going. We continued to play nevertheless, since we have already committed this evening to Warmachine 😉 Mateusz easily cleared most of the engaging models. Judicators stood their ground and continued to wreak havoc. Mateusz scored one point on his flag.

Round 3 Turn 1

Round 3 Turn 2

I still had models on my right flank and I decided that I really want to get rid of that hurt Judicator. Unfortunately, my bad rolls combined with collossal’s high armor value resulted in my Trenchers being very sad. I couldn’t approach the other Judicator, and Ironclad was already seriously hurt. I scored 2 points, but I couldn’t contest left flag. It was 3:2 in my favour.

Round 3 Turn 2

Round 4 Turn 1

Once again, Mateusz cleared all the models (despite on or two) that I threw at him. One of the armies was deffinitely underperforming. Although on couple of boxes, right Judicator was still there. Mateusz didn’t even have to feat.

Round 4 Turn 1

Round 4 Turn 2

I believe Hitch was on fire and burned down at the begining of my turn. I had to move Brisbane forward, put the turret next to the flag and jump into the zone in order to get 2 more points. After my turn it was 5:5 scenario wise, but judging by the amount of models on the table we knew what was the result and I surrendered.

Round 4 Turn 2

Afterthoughts

I managed to almost kill one of the Judicators, but even with one of them down, I believe the result would still be the same. This list is just ineffective against double collossals under Kreoss1. The armor bonus is the game changer, otherwise I would be able to deal much more damage to both of the collossals. This match up depends on terrain, but even with favourable side of the table it’s a very tough game. I need to hunt for the solos or the warcaster and hope that my opponent would make this one crucial mistake.

This game was a part of my preparations to Polish Team Championship and with Mateusz (my team mate) we knew it is not a counter to double Judicators. Nevertheless it is a strong list and in a team environment it complements Nemo3 list well.

Another thing I have learnt, is to carefuly measure where to deploy my bunker, so next time it would survive longer than 2 rounds.

Out of 4 games with Cygnar I played 3 of them against Protectorate. Guess who I played against next? 😛

Cheers,
Piotr
