Hello everyone!
In the second round I faced Adam, another player from Poznaล, and his Convergence. After taking a closer look on what he brought for a tournament I knew this round was going to be incredibly tough. Double TEPs against infantry swarm, what could go wrong? I decided to take Stryker3, as I had to rely on numbers and multiple waves of infantry. Relying on expensive models with high DEF was out of the question, as Iron Mother could buff every models’ RAT to 8 under her feat. Adam settled on Iron Mother, so here we go!
If you haven’t read the Round 1 battle report: Haley3 vs Lylyth4 <- here it is!

I planned to create a cloud wall to limit the angles TEPs could get and keep the depth of my lines, so they wouldn’t be able to cover my whole army with their sprays. That’s easier said than done.
Deployment
I won the roll and decided to go first. Adam picked the side, where the house wouldn’t limit his access to the rectangular zone. I deployed Stryker in the middle, together with Alexia Centurion and two Busters, oh and Madelyn too. Then, I advance deployed one trencher unit on the left, one in the middle (the one with UA) and Commandos on the right, behind the forest. Grenadiers and Express teams were deployed in between. Wow, that was a lot of infantry!
Adam deployed Iron Mother in the middle, alongside Gaspy4 and one of the battle engines. Prime Axiom took the left flank, the other battle engine took the right side.

Round 1 Turn 1
I moved my infantry first, then Stryker cast Iron Aggression on Centurion, Escort on himself and Fury on Commandos. The leftmost trencher unit dug in. Central unit ran forward. I tried to keep my models outside of enemy threat ranges. I tried my best not to block Grenadiers or Centurion for the next turn in case they would like to activate first, but with this amount of models it wasn’t that easy ๐

Round 1 Turn 2
Adam decided to play this turn cautiously, as he was concerned about my melee damage potential. Everything ran forward, but not too far. Gaspy created a little cloud wall to hide 2 Shrieks.

Round 2 Turn 1
Adam played it well and I couldn’t charge anything. Furthermore, shooting enemy models with that many shield guards seemed to be pointless. After a while of thinking I decided to carefully advance forward exposing myself for the inevitable barrage. My plan was to force my enemy to engage, keep part of my models outside of the threat ranges and counterattack with my Feat, dealing as much damage as possible. Part of this plan also included passing few toughs here and there ;p I was hoping that Alexia would gather tons of corpses and summon handful of Risen, but that never worked before ๐ Trenchers created a cloud wall, as I wanted to limit the angles enemy TEPs could get for their spray attacks. Commandos spread on the right flank. I kept Grenadiers, support models and Express teams outside of TEP’s threat ranges.

Round 2 Turn 2
Adam had all my models served on a silver plate, he just had to roll fast enough to kill them all haha Prime Axiom got Eyeless sight from the objective. Iron Mother feated obviously and cast Facilitate to enable all models in her control area use her RAT, that after using her feat went up to 8! First some Trenchers died on the left flank to a drone and an explosion. Then, Prime Axiom wanted to kill the last Risen with his drag shot to clear way to Centurion and to drag him with the second shot, but I shield guarded the first shot with Centurion and it stopped on said Risen. Thanks to that dragging my heavy warjack was out of the question, as the second drag would be shield guarded by Trencher Buster anyway. Then TEPs stepped in and released hell of spray attacks on my infantry. It was painful to watch, I must admit ๐ thankfully, clouds saved some models behind them, as those battle engines couldn’t get better angles. Their sacrifice didn’t go in vain after all. And guess how many corpses did Alexia gather? Take a look at the photo below ๐
After the last attack we noticed that one Risen is still contesting the left zone. We were both sure the zone was free (if I had noticed that before I would remind Adam he had still one model left in the zone to get rid of). I let Adam change the target of the last spray attack and we removed that Risen after taking this photo ๐ Otherwise, I would easily score 5 points the next turn and the game would end prematurely. Adam scored one point, 0:1.

Round 3 Turn 1
I knew this turn was going to be epic! I had full 20 Risen in game and Stryker3 feat incoming ๐ I loaded Centurion and rightmost Grenadier with focus, cast Fury on the middle unit and used Stryker’s feat (it’s an automatically hit charge attack with additional dmg die). I started with Trenchers on the left flank killing enemy models that were blocking charge lanes. Then, Alexia and Risen charged one TEP and the objective (to make space for Centurion). Risen with their subpar P+S 9 managed to deal more than 20 dmg to TEP… there were not one, but several spikes involved ;p oh, there were only 3 Risen charging TEP lol. The others killed the objective and Centurion could finish the battle engine with a couple of focus points to spare. Then, the middle Trencher unit charged Shrike and Gaspy4. Shrike was destroyed with one hit… sadly, my dice rolls evened out and Gaspy survived. On the right flank Grenadier destroyed Shrike with one hit, they were dropping like flies. Express team pushed Destructotron 3000 out of the zone and I scored a point there. Finn captured the middle flag. In total, I scored 5 points, it was 5:1 to Cygnar’s advantage.
Oh, and you know what? I moved Madelyn and forgot to use Parlay... the only purpose one would ever take her to the list hahahah

Round 3 Turn 2
Adam was surprised by the damage output of Risen and those few Trenchers that actually could charge something and honestly, I was too. After carefully measuring the distance Adam figured out he could put Gaspy4 in Stryker’s face. With a one or two souls from the previous turn he had pretty reliable chances of killing Stryker – I had no focus left on him, but Escort was providing me a slight ARM buff. After clearing the path, Gaspy charged Finn and teleported forward getting Stryker to melee range. Gaspy missed an attack or two and the damage rolls were below the average for sure. It came down to the last attack, he hit it and needed anything, but double ones to kill Stryker. Guess what happened? I couldn’t believe what just happened!
After failing to kill Stryker and leaving him on 1 hp Adam decided to concede the game.
Afterthoughts
I created a buymeacoffee profile, where you can support me and contribute to development of this blog by buying me a “coffee”. Funds gathered this way will be used on blog maintenance fee and making more 3D terrain ๐
If anyone would like to do so, you can follow the link below. You can also leave a private message there. Any kind of feedback is highly appreciated!
I would like to thankย Benoit, Samu, Krzysztof,ย Daniel RGย andย Endreย for supporting me on buymeacoffee. It really means a lot to me! Thank you!
What a game! What a slaughterhouse! I can’t remember what was the last time my warcaster survived on 1hp! And obviously it was all my fault. Should I remembered to use Parlay, I could have easily prevented that from happening.
After all, my plan worked to an extent. If only Adam moved his colossal and another TEP to the zone I would never be able to score 5 points in one go. Alexia was the hero of the game, or should I say, Risen were! Finally I got to use them with Murdoch in Stryker3 list! ๐ I recommend you doing that too, when it works it is so powerful haha
I didn’t expect this list to be so much fun, especially against a list that could wipe out the entire table of infantry.
That was an amazing game, Adam, thanks a lot for great fun! I cannot wait to describe our next game! ๐
Cheers,
Piotr
