WTC Lists evolution summary

Hello everyone!

I would like to wrap up my WTC preparations with a short summary of the games I played between the previously reported game (Haley2 vs Skarre1) and already described WTC games. In that period, I played around 27 games that had various impact on the list construction and I will focus only on the final outcome, rather than on describing every single game. I already played 24 games in January and honestly I would rather focus on describing games presenting current meta and my most recent thoughts, than games played in summer last year ;P Sadly, I couldn’t find enough time to get through all of the games.

With every game I played I noticed that I was lacking models to contest distant zones and I didn’t have any solos to spare to score a flag (that would probably die next turn). It happened once or twice that I had to sacrifice Squire or another important solos in reasonably early stages of the game, what should have never happened. The only solution that was able to increase both lists’ body count AND provide solos turned out to be quite obvious – Alexia1.

After removing Jr+Firefly and a unit of mechanics I had 15 points to spare that I spent on Alexia1 and Hermit. Haley could deliver Hermit’s aura a little bit further up the table thanks to Telekinesis. Also, his Telemetry aura could come handy one day, who knows ; ) After adding the unit to the list I finally felt like I could conclude the games I was already winning on attrition – but I couldn’t score enough scenario points to finish it. I was surprised how significantly such a simple change improved the list’s performance. In a hindsight, taking Harlow instead of Hermit could be an interesting solution.

In Siege1 list I removed one Firefly and just stuck to the Junior’s one. I also got rid of a full unit of mechanics. This way I had 13 points that I spent on Alexia1 and Anastasia di Bray. Again, Alexia1 improved the list a lot. Not only had I great means of contesting the zones, I also had great solos to slam against enemy casters for example ; ) or to arc electro leaps/trick shots from! Also, charging Thrall under Siege’s feat could be scary! Apart from that, Anastasia gave me that flexibility of being able to contest a zone or a flag for one turn for free. It allowed me also to finish one of the wtc games earlier.

All in all, I was really satisfied with how my lists for WTC evolved. That was something that I was looking for. I knew Cygnar had some terrible match ups, but this way I could have a game into them.

I had one list – namely Siege1 – of heavy shooting that I could force match ups with, that some of the lists (or factions even!) had to respect and avoid. However, the list I was happy with the most was Haley2. I loved the combination of Caine0+Thunderhead and TK&TA. It had this surprise factor that could catch someone off guard and apart from that it could play a control game.

Also, I’d like to thank my friends who helped me out with coming up with the lists, their support, especially during our 2h long Skype conversation when my brain was already a toast, was priceless. Thank you!

I will make a separate post with statistics from the whole year of playing between WTC 2018 and 2019. I need to count the games first, as I played both Legion and Cygnar. I’m really looking forward to see the results.

Now, I will focus on painting my Morrowan Theme force and writing battle reports starting from the first tournament in 2020. Wish me luck!

  1. Looking forward to the reports (and the Morrowans), good luck with the tournament!

Also, did you mean to password protect the last report you posted?

    1. Hey! Thanks, there are still a lot to describe.
Yeah, it was just a draft and I wanted to show it to somebody 😉 no worries, it will be available sooner or later!
