Haley3 vs Haley2 – Round 3 – where’s Haley1?

Hello everyone!

In the last round of the tournament (here you have ROUND 1 and ROUND 2) I faced another Cygnar player, Andrzej. I decided to take Haley3, Andrzej took Haley2 and here we go! I couldn’t risk taking Trenchers against so many e-leaps and Thead. Andrzej had Nemo3 in the other list I believe, and he didn’t want to risk playing ranged-based Storm Division into melee oriented Storm Division.

Andrzej’s Haley2 list:

Cygnar

[Haley 2] Major Victoria Haley [+29]
– Centurion [16]
– Stormclad [17]

Deployment

Andrzej won the roll and decided to go first. I took the side where I could safely contest/score my flag. The other flag is hidden behind the Water Tower.

Andrzej deployed Thead and Caine0 on the left. Haley2 with her battle group took central position. Journeyman with his Firefly together with Storm Strider took the right flank.

I put Haley and her battle group behind the forest. Alexia took central position. One unit of Storm blades was placed on the left, the other closer to the right side. Cavalry took care of right flank.

Deployment

Round 1 Turn 1

Everything ran forward, Caine0 cast FFE on himself, as Thead’s electrical pulses were useless against electro-immune models. Journeyman cast Arcane Shield on BE, Haley cast Force field.

Round 1 Turn 1

Round 1 Turn 2

My warjacks ran forward. Jakes cast Side Kick on her Reliant. Haley summoned her past and future versions, cast Temporal Distortion and Tactical Supremacy on herself. Everything ran forward, outside of any melee threat ranges. Alexia crafted a Thrall warrior.

Round 1 Turn 2

Round 2 Turn 1

Andrzej cautiously repositioned his army. Centurion walked forward and used his anti-charge ability. Mechanics spread across the circular zone, just to annoy a little. Stormclad and BE stayed outside my charge ranges, waiting for the next round to step in. Caine killed a couple of Stormblades and teleported backwards. Thead took a safe (or not?) position behind the building on the left.

Round 2 Turn 1

Round 2 Turn 2

I noticed an opportunity to get rid of Thunderhead and score 3 points and I decided to go for it! I activated Thorne first, who ran toward the left building. Then, Haley cast Domination on Thead and forced him to walk closer to my army. Past Haley dealt him some damage. Centurion walked up and finished the job. Reliant toed into my rectangular zone and missed a gobber with his ranged attack. Stormblades ran/charged forward and killed some mechanics and contested enemy rectangular zone. Storm Lances finished the last contesting models and repositioned to contest enemy flag. The other Stormblade unit scored the central zone. Thrall warrior captured my flag. I scored 3 points, 3:0.

We marked the points the other way around ;p and realized that after taking the photo.

Round 2 Turn 2

Round 3 Turn 1

Andrzej easily cleared his flag and rectangular zone scoring two points this way. Haley2 feated and teleported my Centurion around with TK. Hermit moved in and used -2 ARM aura. The other Centurion managed to wreck mine. Caine killed the contesting Stormblade. Mechanics moved in to contest the circular zone. Enemy Stormclad tried to get rid of my Morrowan Archon, but failed. Storm Strider walked up and killed one of my Storm Lances in melee. Firefly ran to contest my zone. Andrzej scored 3 points, I scored 1 on my flag, 4:2 to my advantage.

Round 3 Turn 1

Round 3 Turn 2

I needed 3 points to win and I believed that was doable this turn. I had some models under enemy feat. First, I started with Acosta’s Swift Vengeance. He walked up to Stormclad and hit him. This way he already had him within his melee range at the beginning of his activation, so there was no need to forfeit his combat action. Nearby Hermit reduced Stormclad’s ARM by 2, and a couple of swift strikes later Stormclad was no more. SB captain dealt 1 damage to Hermit. Future Haley dealt some more damage to Hermit. I decided not to upkeep Past Haley, so main Haley had enough FOC to cast something through Thorne’s arcnode, so he could walk up and finish Hermit. Storm Lances cleared the circular zone. Alexia created a Thrall warrior. Said Thrall charged and killed Junior Warcaster on the enemy flag! That meant Firefly was no longer contesting my rectangular zone and I scored the third point, 7:2!

Afterthoughts

I created a buymeacoffee profile, where you can support me and contribute to development of this blog by buying me a “coffee”. Funds gathered this way will be used on blog maintenance and making more 3D terrain 😉
If anyone would like to do so, you can follow the link below. You can also leave a private message there. Any kind of feedback is highly appreciated!

I would like to thank Benoit, Samu, Krzysztof, Daniel RG and Endre for supporting me on buymeacoffee. It really means a lot to me! Thank you!

That was an intense and action packed game! Thank you, Andrzej, once more for the game and I hope we will have a rematch soon 😉

Slight mistakes added up and resulted in Andrzej losing a point here and there. This added up and in the end I managed to get a 5 point lead. Lucky Thrall helped, without a doubt.

It was definitely a hard match up for Haley2. She relies heavily on the ability of her key models to clear enemy infantry, Thead and Storm Strider that is. Without that, enemy list had almost no means to clear my multiple units and I used that to my advantage.

Cheers,
Piotr
