Polish Team Championship – Game 3 – Siege2 vs. Deneghra2

Hello everyone!

In the third round we faced a team from northern parts of Poland and I got to play against Cryx again. Sadly, I have no photos from that game so it would be a rather short recap of what happened during this game in general πŸ˜‰

Krzysztof decided to take Deneghra2 and that was his list:

Cryx Army – 75 / 75 points
[Theme] Black Industries

[Deneghra 2] Wraith Witch Deneghra [+28]
– Deathjack [23]
– Inflictor [13]
– Nightmare [18]
– Nightwretch [0(7)]
– Nightwretch [0(7)]
– Stalker [8]
– Stalker [8]
– The Withershadow Combine [9]
Necrotech [2]
Orin Midwinter, Rogue Inquisitor [5]
Soul Trapper [1]
Warwitch Siren [4]
Warwitch Siren [4]
Cephalyx Overlords [8]

In the second list Krzysztof had Deneghra1 with Satyxies, but I was afraid of those incorporeal warjacks under Denny’s feat so I decided to take Siege2, where I had Ayiana & Holt.

My Siege2 list:

Cygnar Army – 75 / 75 points
[Theme] Gravediggers

[Brisbane 2] Colonel Markus β€œSiege” Brisbane [+28]
– Ironclad [12]
– Triumph [18]
Anastasia di Bray [3]
Captain Maxwell Finn [0(6)]
Commander Anson Hitch [4]
Patrol Dog [2]
Trench Buster [0(5)]
Trench Buster [0(5)]
Lady Aiyana & Master Holt [8]
– Captain Jonas Murdoch [4]
Trencher Commandos (min) [10]
– Trencher Commando Officer [4]
– Trencher Commando Scattergunner (1) [2]
Trencher Express Team [5]
Trencher Express Team [5]
Trencher Infantry (max) [16]
Trencher Blockhouse [10]

In the hindsight I think I might have taken Nemo3, as I had some magical attacks thanks to Arlan.

We played Mirage.

The game

As this game took place long time ago I will just describe my general impression to give you the image of the match up and how the game went. There was a big house in the middle of the board, closer to Cryx board’s edge. There was a trench next to the opposite, left flag. I had a lake on the right side, next to the circular zone.

Round 1

I believe that was me who was the first player. I run up and spread my forces so I wouldn’t get my models sucked in by Hellmouth. My friend run up and hid his jacks behind the building (fairly centrally). On the left flank, he kept his flag contested by models in the trench.

Round 2

I decided to feat and go in. I used Desperate Pace on Trenchers on the right. I feated and cast Fury on them. Ayiana kissed Deathjack. After my whole turn of shooting, charging, throwing grenades etc. I left Deathjack on couple of damage boxes. I also killed an arc node and probably couple of models. I decided not to put a solo on my flag because I was afraid he would die there too easily the next turn.

At the begining of Krzysztof’s turn, we realised that I forgot to add +2 to each damage roll because of Harm on Deathjack and Krzysztof decided to take DJ off the board. That was really nice of him. In retaliation he tried to kill as many of my models as he could and I believe he got a point or two.

Round 3

This round basically I killed whatever could threaten Siege and got a scenario advantage.

Krzysztof had to try CK, because my attrition lead was too significant. Even with Denny’s shenanigans it was impossible to find the angle. All in all I won on scenario.

Afterthoughts

I really regret losing my photos even more now πŸ˜›

During the game I had to be very catious, since Cryx is famous for Caster Kills. With that many Arc Nodes the threat was evident. I managed to keep the safe distance. With feat and Desperate Pace I have a notable advantage and as soon as I had the occasion to take a heavy out I took it. Although, forgetting about Harm bonus applied to DJ didn’t help πŸ˜› Also, the terrain turned out to be helpful and the house screened me from the remaining Cryx army.

The aggressive charge on the right flank secured me points on two of the flags and protected the circular zone from that side.

Thanks Krzysztof for the game! As always, games with you are great fun, I enjoy them a lot!

Fortunately, the next game I played against MichaΕ‚ who writes a Legion blog and usually takes many photos πŸ˜‰ The next battle report will be full of photos! Hurray!

Cheers,
Piotr
